Celebrations at Tax and Trust

A few weeks ago, I graduated with an Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) from Massey University. I had the amazing opportunity to visit Europe gaining first hand insights into international business operations in Vienna and Belgium.
Balancing full-time work with the EMBA’s rigorous demands was no small feat. Each 15 credit paper required at least 150 hours of study encompassing extensive reading, collaborative assignments and practical applications. It not only reinforced but greatly expanded the knowledge and experience I’ve accumulated over my 30+ years in the field of accountancy.
Becoming a student again was tough, academic writing distinct from business communication pushed me right out of my comfort zone. It was both demanding and extremely rewarding. I do wish to thank all the students and professors that I studied with during the EMBA experience.
I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement of my family and the team at Tax & Trust.
One significant outcome from the journey was the decision to trial the 4 1/2-day workweek for full-time pay starting in August 2021. This initiative, born out of my need to allocate more time for study has continued to this day, reflecting our commitment to work-life balance and continuous improvement.
Completing the EMBA is a milestone, however it has not concluded my pursuit of knowledge. The habits of reading, critical discussion and sharing insights are integral to my daily life. Engaging in meaningful conversations – beyond digital exchanges – continues to enrich my understanding and perspective.
I agree with Albert Einstein with this quote “Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death“. Do you?
